Parent's Corner
NRLC offers two programs for parents and parent groups: School Council Development and School Council Development Instructor Training.
School Council Development
ASCA offers services, training and resources to support the success of school councils in Alberta, including workshops, presentations and events, as well as advice, consultation and referrals.
Training Services
ASCA provides skill development and training at no charge to all school councils in Alberta. Workshops are facilitated by trained ASCA instructors, delivered in communities across Alberta, on a weeknight or Saturday, at no cost to your school council.
There are four workshop topics available:
- Roles and Responsibilities of School Council
- Recruiting and Retaining School Council Members
- School Councils and Planning
- School Councils and Fundraising Societies: Similarities and Differences
Workshop instruction is based on content from the Alberta School Council Resource Manual. Included in this training service, ASCA will:
- Coordinate the workshop
- Provide support materials for participants
- Provide trained instructors
- Cover all costs related to instructor's travel and accommodation
