Session 1 - The latest and greatest information about FASD – also known as Foundations of FASD
Session Attendees will have a chance to explore the new prevalence and incidence information and how that information relates to our school environments. We will discuss what some of the challenges in talking about FASD with others and the importance of being open to the possibility that students may have this complicated disorder.
Session 2 - Alphabet Soup – (other acronyms and conditions that often accompany FASD).
Session Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the many faces of FASD and how some of the other issues that are often present with those with FASD might affect how a student learns and acts in the classroom.
Session 3 - Classroom Strategies for K – 6
Join Danna in an interactive look at how the symptoms of FASD manifest in students in K - grade 6 classrooms. In this session, special consideration will be given to understanding the 10 brain domains that are affected by prenatal alcohol exposure. Through discussion, activities and sharing ideas, participants in the session will have many opportunities to deepen their competence in providing responses to students that are flexible, multifaceted and simple to implement.
Session 4 - Classroom Strategies for 7 – 12

Stories of students and their challenges,strengths and strategies that work will be discussed in this session. Participants will find themselves with many aha! moments in this session!
Session 6 - Classroom Strategies Part two for Grades 7 – 12
Building on the learning in the previous Grade 7 – 12 session, a focus on Executive Functioning for students with FASD and other related conditions will be explored. Stories of students and their challenges, rewards and strategies that work will be discussed in this session. Participants will find themselves with many aha! moments in this session!
This session will include a conversation about readiness for the transition to adulthood and considerations necessary for a successful move into life beyond school
Session 7 - WRaPping it all up – with hope, humor and humility!
In this session we will focus on the strengths that are present in our school communities, our educators and administrators, our students and their families. Danna will introduce you to a tool she uses to guide conversations around.
